What is the Fruit Salad plant?

The Monstera Deliciosa, also referred to as the “Delicious Monster” and the “Ceriman,” is characterized by its vine-like stem and segmented leaves. This plant is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America, using its aerial roots to attach to trees in rainforest environments.

Light CareLight Care

The Fruit Salad Plant prefers bright, indirect light. While some direct light works in the winter months, too much exposure can lead to the plant’s leaves becoming burnt. Low light exposure also works for this plant, although it may lead to a reduced growth rate and smaller leaves.

Water CareWater Care

Water this plant biweekly. The Fruit Salad Plant requires minimal water, and overwatering can easily lead to root rot. Soak the soil and let the water drain out.

To check the water levels of your plant’s soil, place a water meter 6-8 inches into the soil, where it will give you an accurate indication. If you do n’t own a water meter, stick one finger knuckle-deep into the soil. At this depth, you will be able to accurately account for the soil’s level of moistness.

Food GuideFood Guide

For the Fruit Salad Plant, use soil that is peaty and drains well. A soil that is ineffective at draining excess water could lead to root damage in the plant. Fertilize your plant at least once a month with a liquid fertilizer, during its growth period in the warm months of the year.

Staff Holy Grail Pro-Tip:

Also referred to as the “Swiss Cheese Plant or Fruit Salad Plant,” this plant is characterized by its unique, perforated leaves. By providing yours with a source of bright, indirect light that it can enjoy throughout the year, you will be able to keep its waxy foliage as large and beautiful as ever. Plus, the larger the leaves, the better the plant will be at purifying the air of your home!
